Day 1 – June 14th, 2024
The second mobility of Players event took place in Savigliano, Italy, from June 14th to 16th, 2024. The attendees included the three Steering Committee members: Alessandro De Gregorio from Colegio Santiago Apóstol, Panos Tsigaras from Amik del Basket, and Francesco Nasari from Gators Basketball Club. Additionally, the Head Trainer of Amik del Basket Alessandro Romitelli, Vice President of Gators Basketball Club Daniele Scotta, and Gators Basketball Club coach Luigi Sabatino were present. Amik del Basket also brought four young players, aged 15 to 17, for the Streetball tournament.
On Day 1, Gators President and Vice President picked up the Amik del Basket players and trainers from Turin Airport. They were warmly welcomed in Savigliano and taken to Hotel Villa Cosmera. They were then transported by Gators Basketball Club mini-buses to Torre San Giorgio, a small village near Savigliano, for a first 3×3 basketball session at the PalaTorre sports hall. The court, featuring eco-friendly sustainable material tiles funded by the project, was the venue for this session with athletes from Gators Basketball Club. After the basketball session, everyone returned to Savigliano for a delicious Italian pizza dinner.
Day 2 – June 15th, 2024
On Day 2, in the morning, the four players from Valencia participated in a two-hour 3×3 basketball training session, together with children from the “Oasi Gioco & Basket” project, a project in which Gators Basketball Club offer free basketball lessons during the season to children belonging to low-income families (Italians and immigrants) in collaboration with another non-profit organisation (named “Oasi Giovani”).
After the training session, the Amik del Basket players joined a large 3×3 tournament with boys and girls from the Gators Basketball Club youth teams, involving around 80 participants. Following a quick lunch, the tournament continued in the afternoon, culminating in a victory for the Amik del Basket team.
In the evening, Amik del Basket attended the Gators Basketball Club end-of-season party, along with all Gators youth team members and their families. The celebration featured a convivial dinner, highlighted by the amazing “Porchetta by Tarcisio.”
Day 3 – June 16th, 2024
In the morning of Day 3, a final 3×3 session took place in Savigliano. Afterward, the players from Valencia had a couple of hours to relax and explore the center of Savigliano before being transported to Torino railway station. From there, they took a train to Milan to catch their flight back to Valencia.
